The internship offers an opportunity to support actuarial analyses, data modeling, and healthcare economics projects, contributing to the company's mission of improving community health.

Key Responsibilities

Support and perform actuarial analyses for various lines of business, including medical expense analyses, health insurance market research, product pricing, and actuarial modeling.
Present statistical information to support actuarial, underwriting, and business areas regarding plan pricing, product development, and marketing planning.
Administer finalized policies, monitor results, and provide feedback as needed.
Collect and compile statistical data for additional analysis.
Estimate the probability and cost of sickness, treatment, and medical services.
Design, test, and administer policies to minimize risk and maximize profitability; develop charts and exhibits to explain proposals and calculations.
Identify trends and patterns in complex data sets.
Program and develop pricing and statistical models, spreadsheets, and databases using analytical software.
Explain complex ideas and technical data to different audiences.
Identify company risks and develop plans and recommendations to manage them, presenting findings to actuarial management.
Develop, maintain, and analyze projection models.
Reconcile and analyze actuarial inputs and outputs.
Collaborate with key leaders to identify and meet information needs.
Establish and document actuarial, underwriting, or healthcare economics procedures for internal use.
Perform additional duties as directed.

Requirements

Pursuing a bachelor's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, computer science, other physical sciences, or related finance/business degree.
0 - 1+ years of relevant, professional work experience and/or education.
Understanding of actuarial principles and methodologies with strong mathematical and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to deliver complex information to a diverse audience.
Capable with Excel, data extraction, simulations, automation.
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Nice to Have

Completion of / candidate working towards completion of actuarial exam(s).
Exposure to SQL, SAS, Python or similar.

Qualifications

Pursuing a bachelor's degree in relevant fields
0 - 1+ years of experience
Understanding of actuarial principles
