The role involves supporting clients with issues, corporate reputation, public affairs, and external & internal communications support, working on high-stakes and complex communication issues for exciting clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting a variety of research projects to maintain knowledge about clients, industries and issues.
  • Monitoring and daily reporting of traditional and social media.
  • Writing messaging, talking points, Q&A and briefing documents for media engagement.
  • Conducting stakeholder mapping research to drive client engagement with external audiences: media, customers, elected officials, regulators.
  • Supporting crisis preparedness work, including crisis playbook development, simulations and tabletop exercises.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of public relations/communications experience in an agency, in-house, ideally with a focus on reputation and issues management, or in a political environment.
  • The aptitude to handle high priority and high-pressure situations with poise.
  • An understanding of the current media landscape including national mainstream news media outlets, specialized industry publications, and digital and social media.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Strong research, proofreading, writing and editing skills.
  • Experience with media monitoring tools such as MuckRack, NewsWhip and BrandWatch.
  • Professional interpersonal communications skills.
  • Ability to work on a team and handle multiple projects in a collaborative manner.
  • Desire to work in a diverse and inclusive organization as an active participant in culture initiatives, training opportunities and employee resource groups.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with media monitoring tools such as MuckRack, NewsWhip and BrandWatch.
