About the Role

An Account Executive will be tasked with building sales through various channels. They will work internally with other sales and origination teams, while building relationships with customers externally. The role will require developing sales strategies, building strong relationships with our customers, and selling our products and services. Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver agreed sales targets in terms of overall gross margin, customer numbers, and energy volumes in the industrial and commercial market segment.
  • Establish a network of large commercial or industrial accounts within a particular territory.
  • Utilize target account selling, solution selling, and manage various sales channels.
  • Develop territory-specific sales strategies to maximize company objectives and goals.
  • Create new business through organized prospecting and networking to increase market penetration.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with direct customers.
  • Exceed assigned sales quotas.
  • Remain current on the competition and market conditions.
  • Communicate with management about business challenges and expectations.
  • Create new ideas or strategies and deliver on them.
  • Utilize CRM (SFDC) to track prospecting, tasks, events, and future activities.
  • Provide weekly status updates including forecast and pipeline information.
  • Communicate effectively through verbal and written skills, including presentations and Excel.
  • Collaborate with employees across sales, marketing, sales operations, systems, credit, and product development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, management, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in direct/outside sales and marketing consultative selling.
  • Effective and efficient in using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Established network of large commercial or industrial accounts in the electric utility or natural gas industry (preferred).
  • Reside within the area of responsibility (preferred).

Nice to Have

  • Strong commercial skills and proven “hunter” that identifies and closes commodity transactions.
  • Knowledge of the changing power/gas market landscape and the impact of renewables and other key market fundamentals.
  • Ability to analyze data and provide insights for customers that challenge their thinking about energy procurement.
  • Ability to build strong customer relationships across organizational levels.
  • Outstanding problem-solving, strategic-thinking, presentation, verbal and writing skills.
  • Excellent product and customer knowledge to educate customers on pricing and competitive advantages.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work and contribute as an effective team player in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Ability to adapt to industry demands and internal/external factors.
  • Strong negotiating and closing skills.
  • Problem-solving skills with practical thinking and sound analysis.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organization and follow-through skills.
  • Self-directed and quick learner of business and new products.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, management, or related field.
