This role supports Commercial Underwriting in the sales acquisition process for Hartford Excess Solution, utilizing Legacy Navigators/Global Specialty/Policy Center systems. It involves providing support for new business and renewal policy account coordination, review, essential services, rating, and preparing work orders for quoting and issuance of middle market business. The position serves as the point of contact for agents, handling inquiries and requests, communicating with customers, and resolving problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Underwriter in the sales acquisition process through account coordination, new business and renewal policy essential services, report ordering, preliminary classification of new business, and data collection.
  • Review, prepare work orders for rating, and issue policies.
  • Apply screening criteria in accordance with guidelines.
  • Communicate with customers to obtain needed and required underwriting information and resolve problems.
  • Handle high volumes of transactions, balancing quality and timeliness while managing a Book of Business.
  • Organize work based on AM/UW Huddles, recognition of Top Agents, and territorial differences.
  • Maintain an effective pending/diary/follow-up system.

Requirements

  • Prior Commercial Market Insurance Industry experience as an Account Manager, Technical Rater, or equivalent at an insurance carrier/agency.
  • Knowledge of Commercial insurance coverages: GL, WC, auto, property, etc.
  • Functional knowledge of Commercial Lines rating experience.
  • Experience with Legacy Navigators/Global Specialty/Policy Center systems is a plus.
  • Strong Customer Service and Relationship Building skills.
  • Effective Communication Skills / Written and Verbal.
  • Good automation skills and strong technical ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • High-speed broadband internet with minimum speeds of 75MB download/10MB upload, hardwired to Hartford issued computer.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Legacy Navigators/Global Specialty/Policy Center systems.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to shift work efforts quickly and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.

  • The listed annualized base pay range is $59,200 - $88,800, with actual pay varying based on performance and competencies.
