Job Description

About the Role

The Actuarial Data Analyst II supports financial data project initiatives for interpreting and translating data needs across the Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance organization. The role involves ensuring data accuracy, analyzing insurance data, collaborating with stakeholders and data engineers, writing SQL scripts, creating data visualizations, and generating reports to support P&C insurance pricing, reserving, and analytical analyses. Telecommuting within commuting distance of the worksite is possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support financial data project initiatives for interpreting and translating data needs across the P&C insurance organization.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of tables and databases used for statistical reporting, pricing, reserving, and analytical analyses.
  • Analyze insurance data needs including quality assurance, data mapping, and data transformation associated with system migration and other initiatives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand insurance data needs and work with data engineers to build effective data models.
  • Write SQL scripts and queries to extract insurance data.
  • Create meaningful insurance data visualizations using Tableau and Power BI.
  • Use programming languages including Java, Python, or R.
  • Create data mappings and perform data gap analysis for downstream insurance applications.
  • Generate reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to present insurance findings.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Analytics, or related field and 2 years of experience conducting analysis for P&C insurance pricing.
  • Or Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Business Intelligence, Analytics, or related field and 5 years of experience conducting analysis for P&C insurance pricing.
  • 2 years of SQL experience for P&C insurance, including developing custom SQL queries for data extraction and reporting.
  • 2 years of experience using ETL processes and data integration platforms to create and manage data mappings.
  • 2 years of experience verifying data accuracy and completeness for pricing analysis, risk models, and reserve calculations.
  • 2 years of experience gathering and analyzing data requirements and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • 1 year of experience documenting data requirements and ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • 2 years of experience working with data models.
  • 2 years of experience writing and executing test cases, documenting results, and tracking defects.
  • 2 years of experience analyzing business and regulatory changes and assessing their impact on data reporting and analysis.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field with relevant experience.
