About the Role

The Value-Based Care Analytics Developer, Intermediate designs, builds and optimizes data and analytics solutions that support the organization’s enterprise priorities and promotes its value-based care initiatives. This role develops analytical tools, data pipelines, and reporting solutions that drive insight into cost, quality, utilization, and risk under shared savings, capitation, and performance-based payment models. It requires technical proficiency in modern data platforms and analytics tools, healthcare domain knowledge across clinical, operational, and financial areas, and collaboration with analytics product managers and teams within the Value-Based Care Institute (VBCI). The role works with moderate supervision to create self-service, automated, and scalable analytics products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain analytics products and solutions (datasets, reporting, dashboards) used to deliver insights to claims, clinical, and operational data for assessing performance in value-based contracts, including monitoring KPIs such as total cost of care, quality measures, risk scores, utilization, and shared savings metrics.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of data management processes and analytics products, ensuring automation and alerting in performance monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain analytics frameworks supporting key value-based capabilities including member attribution, benchmarking, performance, stratification, and risk adjustment.
  • Leverage various data sources, support data management and pipeline automation in partnership with data engineering, services teams, and third-party vendors including payors.
  • Collaborate closely with value-based care analysts, analytics product managers, data science, and health economists to develop and execute on user stories.
  • Partner with IT and data governance teams to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with applicable standards and policies.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience; a bachelor’s degree considered to meet 3 years, a master’s degree an additional 1 year, and a doctorate an additional 2 years of experience.
  • Proven experience using data and analytics tools.
  • Strong working experience with SQL and at least one analytics or visualization tool (PowerBI, Tableau, SigmaComputing, or other).
  • Experience working with healthcare data types including claims data, payor revenue/premium data, clinical data (including clinical quality metrics and risk adjustment), social determinants of health, and operational data and KPIs.
  • Genuine desire and curiosity to build analytics applications that improve user experience and data accessibility.
  • Deep commitment to continuous learning within a cross-functional team including clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working within an agile delivery environment (DevOps).
  • Knowledge of and experience with healthcare claims data and related claims analytics tools (such as Milliman’s MedInsight, MedeAnalytics, Tuva).
  • Knowledge of and experience with electronic health records (EHRs) such as Epic, Cerner, eCW, Allscripts, Athena, and population health management platforms like Epic’s Value Based Care, Innovaccer, Arcadia, Lightbeam.
  • Understanding of clinical workflows and clinical operations related to value-based care and population health.

Qualifications

  • Formal training in data management, data engineering, analytics product development, and/or healthcare analytics and operations may be considered.
