About the Role

Google DeepMind is working together to advance the state of the art in artificial intelligence, using technologies for widespread public benefit and scientific discovery. The Core Analytics Team (CAT) is a full stack data science team that organizes, models, and deploys data to guide Google DeepMind's strategy and decisions. The role involves building data foundations, defining key metrics, and making recommendations to influence AI research trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build the data foundations, define key metrics, and make recommendations to guide strategic decisions and influence AI research at Google DeepMind.
  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines to enable data flow and bridge gaps between upstream tools.
  • Develop new technical methods to restrict sensitive data within dashboards while allowing relevant data access.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective solutions and adjust roadmaps to enhance downstream analytics.
  • Present insights and findings to senior leaders and cross-functional teams to inform investment and impact measurement strategies.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience working in a data role such as Analytics Engineer, Data Engineer, Data Scientist, or Product Data Analyst.
  • Advanced Data Modelling in SQL, including designing, building, and optimizing data models and understanding data structure tradeoffs.
  • Strong communication skills for working effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, including explaining technical concepts and translating stakeholder needs.
  • Proactive and self-starting attitude with the ability to build relationships, drive projects, and solve problems.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building data pipelines using tools like DBT and following software engineering best practices.
  • Proficiency in Python and the Python Data Stack (e.g., Pandas, Scikit-learn, NumPy, Jupyter).
  • Good project management skills, including communicating timelines, expectations, and progress.

  • Experience working in a data-related role for at least 4 years.
