About the Role

The Analytics Engineer, Athletics (remote) at the University of Pittsburgh's Pitt IT Analytics team supports the Athletics Department by transforming raw data into curated analytics products to improve decision-making across operations, revenue generation, sports performance, and sports analytics. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including data engineers, data scientists, and Athletics staff, to build impactful data solutions that enhance revenue and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transform raw data into curated data and analytics products to inform Athletics decision-making.
  • Work on projects across all domains with a primary focus on revenue generation, including dynamic pricing recommendations, lead list generation, and customer experience analysis.
  • Collaborate closely with analytics team members such as data engineers, analytics engineers, and data scientists to build solutions.
  • Work regularly with Athletics executives and department staff to understand requirements and deliver insights.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in a data analyst, analytics engineering, or similar role.
  • Experience with sports industry revenue generation data such as sports ticketing, CRM, and email marketing platforms.
  • Knowledge of database technologies (data lake & warehouse).
  • Proficiency with business intelligence tools (Tableau preferred).
  • Experience with version control systems (GitHub preferred).
  • Effective communication skills to translate between technical and non-technical parties.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work well in a team.
  • Self-directed, motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage diverse projects and navigate shifting priorities.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with sports revenue technologies such as Salesforce, Eloqua, and Paciolan.
  • Experience working in or with a revenue unit for a professional or NCAA sports property.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (minimum education requirement).
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
