About the Role

Performance Foodservice, PFG's broadline distributor, maintains a unique relationship with a variety of local customers, including independent restaurants and hotels, healthcare facilities, schools, and quick-service eateries. A team of sales reps, chefs, consultants and other experts builds close relationships with each customer, providing advice on improving operations, menu development, product selection and operational strategies. The Performance Foodservice team delivers delicious food, but also goes above and beyond to help independent restaurant owners achieve their dreams. The Knoxville Area role involves developing independent account business, emphasizing profitability through new sales and account penetration, promoting and selling company-branded products, and supporting customer service activities to increase market share.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generates additional business by analyzing sales territory and individual customers, sampling products, planning sales strategies, and conducting effective sales presentations.
  • Grows sales and profit margins continuously to meet established sales and margin goals.
  • Sets up new customer accounts by determining pricing, working with the Credit Department for initial authorization, and coordinating with center personnel for order-taking and deliveries.
  • Performs initial follow-up work with customers to ensure delivery and product satisfaction.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction by providing an exemplary level of service and working closely with other center personnel to resolve customer problems.
  • May be personally responsible for making deliveries in emergencies.
  • Builds additional business with current customers through product penetration to maximize profitability.
  • Minimizes accounts receivable problems by monitoring accounts for credit compliance and following up on issues.
  • Maintains awareness of pricing trends within the sales territory to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent
  • 6-12 months food or beverage sales experience
  • Valid Driver's License

Nice to Have

  • Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Sales/Marketing, or related area
  • 1-2 years food or beverage sales experience
