About the Role

The Assistant Director of Digital and Social Media at Hampton University will lead the execution of digital media strategies for Hampton Pirates Athletics. The role focuses on creating engaging content, building the brand and audience, cultivating relationships with the digital community, and generating revenue. The position involves working with support staff, coaches, and student-athletes to enhance digital presence across social media platforms and the athletics website, aligning with the university's core values of integrity, respect, decency, dignity, and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Showcase the brand of Hampton University Athletics and its sports programs by executing strategies to maximize engagement on digital platforms.
  • Assist in implementing marketing and advertising strategies by incorporating digital media tactics.
  • Assist in recruiting, training, and scheduling graduate assistants and undergraduate intern content staff.
  • Utilize website analytics to create reports for optimizing and measuring the success of content strategies.
  • Stay up to date on new and emerging social media platforms and best practices.
  • Facilitate the activation of sponsored digital content inventory, planning, and messaging.
  • Ensure digital media support is provided on game-days and for other important events, including travel to away games.
  • Work with student-athletes, coaches, and staff to provide social media best practices for their individual brands.
  • Contribute to educational programming to prepare student-athletes for Name-Image-Likeness (NIL) opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
