Assistant Product Development Manager

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Product Development Manager in all aspects of the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) lifecycle, including concept, launch, improvements, and sunsetting, acting as a key contact between vendors and internal teams such as packaging, regulatory, sourcing, and marketing.
• Manage item setup and maintenance processes including vendor onboarding, UPC generation, factory updates, specification updates, and data accuracy across systems.
• Maintain and organize key product documentation including planograms, samples, ingredient specifications, pricing, and launch timelines with minimal support.
• Assist in market research and competitive analysis to inform product positioning and innovation opportunities.
• Assist in the development and alignment of category strategy and product roadmap through analyses, assessments, and vendor meetings.
• Facilitate and assist in preparing leadership materials for milestone meetings such as planogram review, product pipeline review, new item presentations, and executive business reviews.
• Develop and refine strategy building skills related to launching CPG in a fast-paced retail environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• 0-3 years of full or part-time work experience in a retail and/or corporate environment.
• Experience in achieving short-term and long-term goals on a deadline.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
• Strong work ethic, entrepreneurial mindset, business savvy, curiosity, and ability to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
• Up to 10% travel expected.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet critical milestones with little oversight.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
• Personal integrity and judgment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with product lifecycle management in CPG or retail environments.
• Experience attending trade shows, conferences, or vendor meetings.
• Ability to deliver professional communications and presentations on tight deadlines.

Qualifications

• Educational background or experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
