Job Description

About the Role

The Senior Research Engineer at Med Institute, Inc. will be responsible for various aspects of the medical device product development process, including product design, prototype development, design controls, and design verification and validation testing. The role involves building design controls, performing independent research, developing test methods, and maintaining well-controlled documentation. Previous medical device development experience is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, document, prototype, and evaluate component and system level designs for new medical products as part of an integrated development team.
  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes for devices in collaboration with project teams.
  • Interact with management and technical leadership to plan, complete, and report results of experiments, tests, prototype development, and literature surveys.
  • Ensure project deliverables and tasks are technically excellent and completed in a timely fashion.
  • Document deliverables and activities in the design history file.
  • Perform independent research and develop new test methods.
  • Communicate well with clients and develop well-controlled documentation including protocols, reports, data forms, and laboratory notebooks.
  • Participate in standard committee involvement and marketing and sales of services.

Requirements

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering or comparable background.
  • 5+ years of experience in medical device development.
  • Experience with medical device design controls.
  • Proven ability to innovate in the development of interventional medical devices.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and coordinate the completion of deliverables and tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, record-keeping, and interpersonal skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship is not provided.

Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical Engineering or comparable field.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in medical device development.
