Job Description

About the Role

The Automation Architect - Database Team Product Owner will support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of Biometric Identity Management (OBIM), with software development and application enhancements on the Mission Systems Lifecycle Support (MSLS) Program. The role involves developing, supporting, and modernizing mission-critical applications related to biometric and biographic information processing for national security, law enforcement, immigration, and border management, utilizing Agile methodologies and DevSecOps processes. The position requires a technical leader experienced in data engineering, database architecture, cloud migration, and software development, contributing to design decisions and system implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support and technical advice during conceptualization, development, and implementation phases to transform requirements into working solutions.
  • Involve with users to define system scope and objectives, and contribute to design decisions.
  • Work on new development and re-engineering efforts, including making system design decisions.
  • Implement enhancements to existing systems, coordinate with other developers, and perform QA/testing as needed.
  • Provide software development services across all tiers, including UI and Java development.
  • Utilize DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Maven for development and deployment.
  • Support setup of AWS infrastructure and support CI/CD pipeline automation.
  • Develop and maintain build and deployment scripts, and support CI/CD tools integration, operations, change management, and maintenance.
  • Support and support the development of fully automated CI build processes for multiple environments.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain DHS HQ Final Suitability.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 20+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with GoLang and Java programming languages.
  • Experience in Agile development methodology and as a Product Owner and Technical Advisor.
  • Experience with Cloud, Docker, Postgres, and Oracle technologies.
  • Experience with Jira to support DevOps in an Agile environment.
  • Proficiency with DevOps tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Maven.
  • Experience with Java Web Services, Spring Boot, Java EE, Web Development, HTML, and JavaScript.
  • Knowledge of end-to-end fully automated CI/CD pipelines, from code commits to production.
  • Relational Database experience (RDBMS).
  • Experience with Docker, AWS Administration, RedHat/OpenShift v4.x.

Nice to Have

  • Proven track record as a self-learner keeping current with automated code scanning, testing, CI/CD concepts.
  • Experience with Gitlab/GitHub.
  • Experience in systems design, database programming, and interfacing with clients on technical design.
  • Experience with scrum/agile project lifecycle approach to software development.
  • Understanding of pipeline architecture and design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, fluency in English.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • 20+ years of related experience.
