BIS AI / ML Data Engineer

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy data engineering and machine learning models to solve complex business problems within the Oncology business unit.
• Develop, implement, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, connecting with data sources such as blob storage and SQL databases.
• Contribute to and enforce data security and governance through tools like Purview and Databricks.
• Use Databricks to analyze, process, and transform large datasets for machine learning models and reporting.
• Work with large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT to integrate conversational AI features via API programming.
• Design and implement data models and work with graph databases to support predictive analytics and complex data relationships.
• Create interactive dashboards and applications with R Shiny for data visualization and decision support.
• Develop and maintain APIs for efficient data communication between systems and applications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business requirements and present insights and model outcomes clearly.
• Manage project timelines, deliverables, and documentation independently, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience building AI/ML solutions in industry and/or academia.
• Proficiency in Python for data processing, machine learning, and API integration.
• Experience with R and R Shiny for creating interactive visualizations and applications.
• Experience with Azure Cloud Platform and Azure Data Factory for data pipelines and storage connections.
• Strong knowledge of Databricks for data engineering and distributed model training.
• Familiarity with large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT for conversational AI and NLP applications.
• Proven experience with SQL databases, including Azure Synapse, for querying, data integration, and reporting.
• Knowledge of graph databases and data modeling for predictive analytics is a plus.
• Skilled in API programming for system integration.
• Understanding of predictive modeling techniques and machine learning algorithms.
• Strong communication skills and project management experience.

• Advanced degree or relevant certifications in AI/ML or related fields.
• Experience with natural language processing and conversational AI development.
• Knowledge of data security and governance tools beyond Purview and Databricks.

• 3 years of industry or academic experience in AI/ML solutions
