About the Role

The ISO Programs Operations department of Verisk Analytics is looking for an analyst versed in client solution implementation who is responsible for dealing with data; data management, data requirements, and data analysis. This role supports external partner reporting responsibilities, prepares data reviews, regulatory filings, and compilations for submission to state insurance departments and ISO affiliates. The position offers opportunities to learn and apply insurance business knowledge and technical skills in research and implementation of data capture mechanisms and strategies. As part of the Data Management Solutions unit, the analyst will be involved with data mining, manipulation, onboarding of new clients, and collaborating with stakeholders on data reporting requirements and management activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, modify and execute programs to extract, transform and summarize data, as input to derive analyses and reports.
  • Support strategic initiatives associated to cloud computing, by helping to migrate code, data and processes, and reconciling results against existing procedures.
  • Contribute to business processes and recommend improvements in data management, error identification, quality control, process automation, and analytic techniques.
  • Partake in testing for a new data transformation reporting system and assist with ongoing maintenance, working closely with the development team.
  • Provide high quality support to client needs including data profiling, mapping and data lineage, data transformation and development, data quality analysis, and data and business inquiry resolutions.
  • Collaborate with other divisions, integrating information from multiple sources along with independent analysis and research to prepare appropriate data capture mechanisms and support.
  • Prioritize business needs and make decisions while handling multiple projects.
  • Use appropriate business language to develop clear and concise data reporting standards and instructions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Arts or Science, with emphasis in computer science, communication, economics, data analytics, statistics or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience, including data transformation or data mining experience using large and complex datasets.
  • Background in property/casualty insurance; knowledge of ISO statistical plan reporting and/or other Statistical Agent plans is a plus; knowledge of ISO Underwriting and Rating Products is a plus.
  • Experience with data management technologies (SQL, Python, ETL, Data Warehousing, etc); experience with data blending tools (Alteryx, etc) is a plus.
  • Good understanding of data manipulation, report generation and data validation procedures including coding of small to mid-size data transformations, cleansing and validation scripts.
  • Working knowledge of reporting or Business Intelligence tools is a plus.
  • Solid background in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel at minimum).
  • Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work under time constraints and adjust plans in the face of changing priorities.
  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, customer-service oriented, and capable of working independently and in a team.
  • Continued desire and ability to learn.
  • Professional insurance exams such as CPCU, IDMA, etc., are a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of ISO Underwriting and Rating Products.
  • Experience with data blending tools like Alteryx.
  • Experience with reporting or Business Intelligence tools.

Qualifications
