Business Data Analyst

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Gather and document business requirements and validate them against system data.
• Perform backend data analysis using AWS services including RDS, S3, RedShift, and PostgreSQL.
• Write complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from various databases.
• Collaborate with development and testing teams to ensure accurate implementation of requirements.
• Create Source-to-Target Mapping documentation and perform data reconciliation.
• Conduct data validation and cleansing activities, comparing expected vs. actual results.
• Analyze and compare data in JSON and XML formats.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and serve as a point of contact for development and testing teams.
• Prepare data in a consumable format for business stakeholders.
• Utilize tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.

Requirements

• Proven experience in writing complex SQL queries and joining tables.
• Hands-on experience with AWS database services (RDS, S3, RedShift, PostgreSQL).
• Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling concepts.
• Experience in gathering and translating business requirements for data modeling teams.
• Familiarity with mortgage industry terminology, particularly loan origination.
• Proficiency in JIRA and Confluence.
• Skilled in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to create and maintain Source-to-Target Mapping documentation.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical requirements clearly.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in financial institutions or similar.
• Background in business or data analysis within the data modeling space.
• Familiarity with Oracle or Netezza databases.
