The Business Development Manager - Commercial Buildings is responsible for developing growth strategies and go-to-market plans to improve market position, drive customer experiences, and achieve commercial results in the end customer segment. The role involves market intelligence, data-driven insights, understanding customer needs, and identifying growth opportunities to drive profitable revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product marketing, demand generation, product management, and sales teams to source and interpret complex data sets into insights that lead to profitable growth opportunities.
  • Produce a multi-year 'Market Map' identifying underserved customer markets, industry trends, and high-growth drivers.
  • Gather and analyze business, market, and competitor information to support strategic business and marketing planning.
  • Lead Voice of Customer studies to inform strategic growth and new product development.
  • Promote new and existing programs in target market segments to increase market share and drive sales growth.
  • Develop targeted lead generation and brand building campaigns in partnership with marketing and demand generation teams.
  • Partner with sales to identify strategic accounts and provide insights, training, or marketing support.
  • Assess new and adjacent market opportunities and develop go-to-market strategies and innovation ideas.
  • Drive product commercialization planning in collaboration with sales, product lifecycle managers, operations, customer service, and demand generation.
  • Build industry and customer alliances, participate in industry/trade organizations, and identify potential partners and M&A opportunities.
  • Create content and participate in training events for customers and sales teams.
  • Demonstrate thought leadership through presentations at industry seminars, webinars, and customer meetings.

Requirements

  • BA or BS in Marketing, Business, Product Management/Marketing, or Strategic Account Management.
  • Minimum of 10 years' marketing or business development experience in commercial buildings, HVAC/hydronics, or water technology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of market penetration strategies and go-to-market development.
  • Self-starter with high-energy problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to lead, coordinate, and influence cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Ability to balance strategic and tactical efforts to deliver short-term results while planning for long-term growth.
  • Strong analytical skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and finance principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a self-driven manner.

Nice to Have

  • MBA strongly desired.
  • Previous experience in large, complex organizations.
  • Experience managing water and fluid handling products and solutions.
  • Experience in B2B equipment.
  • Additional experience in market analysis or go-to-market strategy development.

  • Educational background with a BA or BS degree.
