Job Description

About the Role

The Sr Analyst Category Management supports the Albertsons Corp Buying team as part of the team's Category Advisership and is responsible for building customer relationships with specific Albertsons divisions to drive sales, share, equity, and coffee category growth. This role influences category strategy using industry knowledge, shopper insights, and business analytics, and identifies growth opportunities through analytics including assortment optimization and space planning. The position involves working cross-functionally with corporate teams to drive results and support the division's strategic priorities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze category trends and business opportunities, providing recommendations that benefit both the business and customers.
  • Deliver actionable business insights to enhance distribution, shelving, and quality merchandising (promotion).
  • Demonstrate proficiency in syndicated data sources and tools, such as Circana and/or Nielsen, and possess advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Serve as the team's expert in key analytical tools, collaborating with the HQ Category Management team to develop new insights.
  • Lead category reviews to establish optimal assortments and recommend best-in-class aisle flow strategies.
  • Enhance the Coffee & Beverage Division's Omnichannel business with customers, including increasing share of search, building online engagement, and driving shopper loyalty in partnership with internal Shopper Marketing and eCommerce teams.
  • Utilize tools and data to generate new insights and translate the company's category narrative into customer-specific growth opportunities.
  • Demonstrate initiative and intellectual curiosity to explore data and insights to develop actionable insights and push new and creative ideas.
  • Be an expert data-driven storyteller that delivers insights through high-impact visualizations.
  • Conduct deep dive analytics for category strategy review and create customer presentations.
  • Collaborate with Category Management teams across HQ and field cross-functional teams.
  • Develop custom reporting using customer data and advanced analytics.
  • Interpret company category story into customer-specific opportunities for growth.
  • Support the development and execution of annual strategic priorities and goals for category strategy and vision.
  • Assist in preparing for meetings with buyers, including supporting customer team JBP and other relevant meetings.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in category, sales, marketing, etc.
  • 3+ years of work experience in Analyst, Category Development, Sales Support roles in the CPG industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
  • Experience in syndicated data sources such as Circana or Nielsen and shopper card data preferred.
  • Experience working with large datasets.
  • Ability to work across the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Basic financial acumen.
  • Ability to sell ideas persuasively.
  • Ability to build diverse collaborative relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Comfortable presenting cross-functionally.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, changing, matrix environment.

  • Experience in space planning software.
