Job Description

About the Role

The Business Development Manager, Hardware in the Loop (HIL) / Simulation, Instrumentation manages all HIL and Simulation programs in collaboration with sales and business management. The main scope of this position is to work with the various programs to promote United Electronic Industries (UEI) and VTI products and to grow the business. Responsible for driving sales within existing and new programs, assisting with product definition based on customer requirements, collecting and analyzing data, and improving the overall customer experience. This position reports to the Director of Business Development and Strategy, UEI/VTI, and is based in Norwood, MA, with hybrid work considerations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify potential new clients and markets, conduct market research, and develop strategies to target key accounts.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement business development plans and strategies to achieve revenue goals and market expansion.
  • Conduct market research to identify new trends, opportunities, and competitive landscape.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to develop proposals, presentations, and sales pitches.
  • Learn and understand each program's business and technical needs and desires.
  • Work collaboratively with the business to define and implement program needs.
  • Discuss and demonstrate UEI and VTI technology.
  • Ensure steady and organized follow-up on sales opportunities through emails, phone calls, etc., to ensure the expected level of sales.
  • Report progress of all ongoing activities on a weekly basis during team opportunity review.
  • Diligently utilize the CRM system to maintain records of communications, quoting, meetings, demonstrations, and current/accurate forecasting.
  • Work collaboratively with Regional Sales Managers to close program business and develop new program business.
  • Participate in trade shows, technical events, open-houses, sales meetings, and other sales events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree; degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field will be considered.
  • 5 years of experience managing programs/projects and a solid understanding of procurement, planning, and engineering interactions.
  • 50% travel is required.
  • Must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.

Nice to Have

  • Previous HIL, Simulation, or engineering sales experience or previous data acquisition and control experience.
  • Experience in B2B technical sales, past DOD programs sales management.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including ability to negotiate both internally and with customers on commercial and technical matters.
  • Self-directed and independent work ethic; ability to measure and report progress against objectives.
  • Meticulous critical thinking skills; objective approach to analysis and total business impact.
  • Excellent written skills suitable for publication.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and exemplary moral character.

Qualifications

  • Educational background in engineering, computer science, physics, or related fields.
  • Experience managing programs/projects and understanding of procurement, planning, and engineering interactions.
