About the Role

The role of Business Development Manager - Latin America involves leading the Latin America team, developing and executing regional strategies, and fostering client relationships within the Latin American market. The successful candidate will work closely with global and regional leadership to enhance the firm's market position and deliver integrated legal solutions, leveraging deep market insights and cross-practice collaboration. The firm is a leading international law practice with a strong presence in Latin America, recognized for its expertise across multiple legal sectors and its inclusive, team-oriented culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and leverage opportunities for growth within the Latin America market, enhancing the firm's market position and delivering integrated legal solutions to clients.
  • Ensure the Latin America group collaborates with sector, themes, and global strategic client teams to develop priority clients and prospects.
  • Drive disciplined client outreach and relationship activities across markets.
  • Foster cross-product collaboration with global business units and knowledge, education, and thought leadership teams.
  • Maximize client relationship building and reputation through flagship marketing and events programs, working with the Marketing team.
  • Prepare and rehearse legal teams for pivotal business development and client meetings.
  • Leverage the Client Insight & Business Intelligence Team and sector teams to inform strategic marketing decisions.
  • Increase visibility of upcoming client meetings to promote cross-selling.
  • Lead brand and reputational activities such as directories, awards, and events for Latin America.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in Latin American markets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop strategies based on market insights.
  • Stay updated on Latin American market developments and provide timely updates to stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government officials, industry experts, and business leaders.
  • Ensure core marketing and pitch materials are current and accessible.
  • Implement best practices in legal directory processes to maintain and improve rankings.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in business development, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment, with regional focus experience preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is required.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful business development and marketing strategies.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong technical proficiency with tools like CRM and Mergermarket.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, law, or related field; an MBA or similar advanced degree is preferred.
  • Ability to work in accordance with the Firm's Agile Working Policy, requiring work from the office at least three days per week.
  • Legal authorization to work independently in the United States.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a regional focused role within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Additional language skills beyond Spanish or Portuguese.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, law, or related field.
  • An MBA or similar advanced degree is preferred.
