About the Role

The Business Development Manager RI at Diageo is responsible for driving the embedding of the company's vision within the distributor network, providing clear direction to achieve mutual business objectives. The role involves influencing distributor performance, managing sales strategies, and leading local sales teams to deliver performance goals. This position emphasizes collaboration, strategic planning, and executional excellence to grow the brand presence and market share in Rhode Island.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve annual operating plan for spirits, including price mix and gross margin targets.
  • Manage in-market execution against Key Performance Indicators and develop annual plans for on and off premise channels.
  • Develop pricing and promotional plans to drive DNSV growth across segments, brands, and packages.
  • Participate in market assessments to identify opportunities and risks, providing insights to leadership.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key distributor personnel and accounts to ensure alignment with brand strategies.
  • Lead spirits innovation planning in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Review sales and marketplace objectives with distributors to ensure targets are on track.
  • Develop programming that drives market DNSV and strategic brand imperatives.
  • Communicate brand strategies and localize them into actionable work plans with distributors.
  • Proactively build sales competencies within distributor teams to enhance performance.

Requirements

  • Commercial experience of 3 to 5 years with knowledge of financial metrics.
  • Sales management experience, including exposure to key accounts.
  • Strong understanding of distributor operations within the beverage alcohol industry.
  • Experience leading across multiple functions in both on and off trade environments.
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
