The role of Business Information Solutions Designer Lead involves working at the intersection of business and technology to design data-centric solutions that support business opportunities and challenges, collaborating closely with various stakeholders to drive data solutions from concept to implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as a subject matter expert for business data within projects ranging from small efforts to major transformations.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to ideate data-centric solutions and define logical data structures.
  • Understand the data landscape, lifecycle, and software for the business area.
  • Align tactical decisions with business strategy and goals.
  • Partner with tech teams (data architecture, application/data warehouse development) to ensure solutions meet business needs.
  • Create detailed requirements and custom data assets (e.g., data marts, BI layers) for analysts and data scientists.
  • Identify opportunities to obtain and leverage external data sources to solve business problems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in roles like analyst, developer, data architect, or consultant delivering data-centric solutions or equivalent experience in data-related roles.
  • Degree in a technical or business field (e.g., Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics); dual degrees are a plus.
  • Proficient in SQL, Python, or similar programming languages, and BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Strong understanding of logical data and business architecture concepts.
  • Skilled in solution ideation, concise communication, and fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration.
  • Detail-oriented, assertive, adaptable, and business-outcome focused.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and presenting to all levels.
  • Embraces change and acts as a change agent.
  • Hybrid (Chicago) or remote (US-based) work environment; no sponsorship required.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with data landscape, lifecycle, and software for business areas.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Dual degrees in technical and business fields.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a technical or business field such as Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, or Statistics.
