About the Role

The Business Intelligence Analyst role involves developing a comprehensive understanding of business processes, data systems, and enterprise-wide data sources to support data analysis and reporting. The position is based at the Flint Campus and offers a hybrid work environment, combining work from home and office presence. The role supports strategic assessments and the creation of BI solutions to address current and emerging business issues within the university's institutional analysis department.

Key Responsibilities

Develop a comprehensive, cross-functional understanding of business processes, production systems, enterprise-wide data warehouses/sources, and departmental databases.
Participate in cross-functional teams to increase the impact and awareness of business intelligence projects and tools.
Assist in the presentation and demonstration of BI tools and solutions.
Conduct business analysis and functional design activities for capturing, loading, storing, and extracting organizational data.
Design, model, and build data structures and data mapping routines to support reporting requirements.
Participate in strategic assessments to identify current and emerging business issues and contribute to defining high-impact BI solutions.
Develop reports, dashboards, graphs, and portal interfaces.

Requirements

Master's degree in Business Administration or Management Information Systems.
At least 2 years of related experience including development of Business Object (BO) reports and Tableau dashboards.
Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) scripting.
Experience producing Public University Summary Data.
Experience with State of Michigan Higher Education Data Inventory (HEIDI) and federal Department of Education IPEDS compliance reporting requirements.
Background screening required upon offer acceptance.

Qualifications

Master's degree in Business Administration or Management Information Systems.
2+ years of relevant experience in BI report development, dashboard creation, and data scripting.
