About the Role

The Business-Intelligence Analyst I attends Epic certification classes, completes required testing and projects, and maintains Epic certifications as assigned. They participate in activities related to creating, documenting, testing, and supporting the hospital's reporting and extract needs to ensure a quality electronic medical record (EMR). The role involves working closely with end-users, administration, and vendors to understand business processes, elicit reporting requirements, and ensure proper testing and validation. The analyst provides ongoing reporting support for the EMR, including new installs, software updates, upgrades, and other tasks via a helpdesk ticketing system. They communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical staff, document work efforts, and prioritize assignments to meet deadlines while adhering to policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

Attend Epic certification classes, complete required testing/projects, and maintain Epic certifications as required/assigned.
Participate in activities associated with the creation, documentation, testing, and support of the hospital's reporting and extract needs.
Work closely with end-users, administration, and vendors to understand business processes and reporting requirements.
Assist in ongoing reporting support of the EMR, including new installs, software updates, and upgrades.
Review and act on upgrade release notes and user-reported requests for implementing approved and prioritized assignments.
Handle assignments in various stages of completion while maintaining attention to details and deadlines.
Participate in meetings with build analysts/developers, managers, and operational stakeholders to gather information.
Document work efforts associated with every assignment in a timely manner.
Communicate with clinical/non-clinical staff to understand needs and relay status updates.
Follow all policies and procedures while performing job duties.
Obtain and maintain multiple Epic certifications required for support of assigned application areas.
Research, build, and introduce new functionality to application area users.
Resolve issues reported by application area users.

Requirements

Associates Degree in an Information Technology related field or equivalent business experience.
Experience using relational databases (T-SQL) and proficiency in report development is preferred.
Work experience in data analysis and report development is required.
Experience in a healthcare environment is a plus.
Epic Cogito certification within 60 days of employment.
Epic Caboodle Data Model certification within 100 days of employment.
Epic Clarity Data Model certification within 140 days of employment.
Access, Revenue, or Clinical Data Model certification within 180 days of employment.
Ability to perform duties under various levels of stress and time restraints.
Self-motivated with the ability to learn from manuals and prioritize multiple tasks.
Strong analytical skills to understand oral and written statements for business and technical problems.
Ability to make educated decisions and demonstrate initiative.
