The Chief Marketing Officer, Optum Insight and Optum Financial, reports to the Chief Marketing & Customer Officer and leads client product marketing, sales enablement, integrated marketing campaigns, member engagement programs, and strategic initiatives to support growth, retention, and brand positioning for Optum Insight and Optum Financial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Models positive, admirable leadership behaviors that foster a culture of inclusion and belonging, focusing on talent development and team engagement.
  • Leads the development of an overall marketing strategy to drive profitable growth.
  • Builds investment strategies for advertising to expand the direct-to-consumer Optum Marketplace into a multi-billion dollar business segment.
  • Executes customer and business priorities through an end-to-end approach to improve customer experience and Net Promoter Score (NPS).
  • Manages development and execution of enrollment and retention strategies across business lines to meet targets.
  • Oversees all aspects of the marketing mix including advertising, direct response marketing, promotion, creative development, collateral production, digital strategies, and market research.
  • Leads diverse teams across the country, supporting traditional sales teams to meet growth and retention goals.
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies for Optum Insight and Optum Financial, including market positioning, go-to-market, and launch strategies.
  • Leads omni-channel campaigns utilizing best-in-class management and measurement tools, leveraging content to drive personalization and extend reach.
  • Manages large, complex budgets across various market segments.
  • Develops and enforces brand standards to ensure consistency and brand integrity.
  • Serves as a catalyst for innovation, seeking new ways to grow and improve marketing efforts.
  • Establishes and achieves measurement standards for marketing activities, including ROI, and manages marketing budgets.
  • Leads and supports external vendor relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 15+ years of broad-based marketing experience including leadership of client and consumer marketing strategy, branding, advertising, communications, and digital marketing.
  • 10+ years of team leadership experience.
  • Broad knowledge and results in leading marketing within a large, matrix organization.
  • Ability to think conceptually and strategically, influencing and delivering on targets.
  • Strong collaboration, teamwork, and relationship-building skills across organizations.
  • High organizational agility to handle large-scale change and navigate complex situations.
  • Effective communication skills to shape opinions, overcome objections, and influence stakeholders.
  • Experience in developing and implementing new systems, programs, and techniques with a track record of achieving financial goals.
  • Business management ability to build programs and strategies that drive measurable results.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to change and lead others through change in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Healthcare or Financial Services Marketing experience.
  • Master's degree in Marketing or Business Administration.
  • Based in Eden Prairie, MN.

Qualifications

  • Educational background includes a Bachelor's degree; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Significant experience in marketing leadership roles.
