About the Role

The Client Relationship Executive (CRE) at Sun Life U.S. is responsible for managing the overall relationship and financial aspects of a portfolio of group benefit clients within the employer segment of 100-1,999 enrolled employees. This role serves as a key account manager and revenue generator, focusing on internal and external partnerships to foster long-term growth and client retention. The CRE represents Sun Life's full range of employer and employee-paid products and services, proactively seeking opportunities to increase revenue through cross-sell and organic growth, while acting as a trusted advisor to brokers and policyholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with brokers and plan sponsors for their benefit plans by providing end-to-end business solutions, education, and service.
  • Collaborate with sales, support, service, and management teams to meet customer expectations and proactively provide value-added solutions.
  • Meet targets for growth, including cross-sell, and persistency by developing and owning a business plan focused on block management and development.
  • Assess, clarify, and validate customer needs continuously, proposing innovative solutions to address their unique requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal service departments to oversee issue resolution and participate in creating solutions.
  • Participate in finalist presentations, representing Sun Life’s account management and service value story confidently.
  • Partner with territory EBRs to align on territory goals and communicate execution plans.
  • Work with Implementation Consultants to ensure seamless onboarding and address questions proactively.
  • Display integrity through transparency and honest dealings, acknowledge team contributions, and demonstrate fairness and consistency.
  • Partner closely with field sales, client advocate partners, and home office staff to foster trust and open dialogue.
  • Organize and prioritize daily activities to meet business goals and customer needs.
  • Develop and deliver effective positioning statements and pitches for future growth opportunities.

Requirements

  • 4-5 years of industry experience in Employee Benefits and/or knowledge of Group Benefit design.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Must hold a current insurance license or be able to obtain one immediately.
  • Strong presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Proven negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Effective listening skills, including note-taking and active listening.
  • Demonstrated client management and relationship-building skills.
  • Resilience and ability to react positively to change, maintaining focus and flexibility.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to develop and execute a client relationship management strategy independently.
  • Adept at project management and multi-tasking.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid understanding of product pricing, profitability, and risk/underwriting rules.
