The role supports profitability improvement and growth initiatives for assigned lines of business, focusing on understanding rates, rules, and forms related to ISO, proprietary, and AAIS, and managing product development projects and filings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintains a single point of responsibility for ISO, Selective proprietary, and AAIS rates, rules, and forms supported by the Business Analyst and Line of Business personnel's expertise.
  • Maintains inventory and works with the Line of Business Manager to be accountable for governance of existing rates, rules, and forms as well as future enhancements and managing filing preparation.
  • Ensures a consistent business process and tools for product development regarding proprietary rates, rules, and forms, and decisions related to ISO and AAIS circulars and bulletins.
  • Conducts research and analysis for new product development and enhancements to existing products, sometimes partnering with corporate underwriting and reviewing competitors.
  • Responds to Line of Business decisions on ISO and AAIS circulars (adopt, delay, or non-adopt) related to proprietary products, including creating and submitting necessary state filings.
  • Collaborates with the Business Analyst and Line of Business regarding requirements.
  • Manages projects for new product development and product enhancements, monitoring progress and results.
  • Prioritizes product development projects with input from core stakeholders.
  • Analyzes existing manuscript endorsements for clarity, accuracy, and compliance, developing alternative solutions as needed.
  • Tracks endorsement usage according to established controls.
  • Creates and provides educational materials and training for agents and regional personnel on new products or enhancements.
  • Assesses the competitive landscape to identify opportunities for underwriting, pricing, coverage, and product penetration to enhance profitability.
  • Provides exceptional customer service to agents, regional personnel, analysts, underwriting, legal, compliance, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Strong technical underwriting knowledge.
  • Strong working knowledge of ISO and AAIS circulars and bulletins.
  • Ability to research and analyze coverage.
  • Ability to create draft forms and collaborate with stakeholders to complete them.
  • Ability to manage projects.
  • Pro-active, driven, and takes initiative.
  • College degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of Commercial Underwriting experience.
  • 3+ years of specific business segment experience (preferred).
  • 3+ years of Risk Management and/or reinsurance experience (preferred).
  • 3+ years of Field Underwriting and/or agency experience (preferred).

Nice to Have

  • Experience with risk management and reinsurance.
  • Experience in field underwriting or agency roles.

Qualifications

  • College degree (preferred).
  • 7+ years of Commercial Underwriting experience.
