About the Role

The Communications & Multimedia Strategist (Media Producer 1) supports and enhances the marketing goals of the University, the Office of Global Affairs, and its units. The role involves managing the UConn Global identity across digital and print media formats, performing administrative duties, and developing communication strategies to increase brand awareness and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recommends social media and communications strategy after conducting competitive research, platform determination, messaging, and audience identification.
  • Conducts market research using SEO and other metrics to understand perceptions of the Office of Global Affairs and stakeholder engagement, and suggests content optimization.
  • Captures and analyzes data metrics and insights to measure the success of communication and marketing campaigns, then refines future campaigns accordingly.
  • Compiles data and prepares statistical reports to monitor or assess department activities, programs, and services or project future needs.
  • Supports data-driven marketing and communications efforts by managing and streamlining office workflows, coordinating documentation processes, and maintaining records and databases.
  • Plans, creates, publishes, and shares new content daily, including original text, press releases, speeches, newsletters, images, videos, and code.
  • Manages and updates content on the Office of Global Affairs' websites and social media platforms, ensuring compliance with branding, policies, and standards.
  • Sets up and optimizes UConn Global pages within each platform to increase visibility.
  • Stays current with social media and website best practices and technologies.
  • Moderates user-generated content in line with moderation policies.
  • Collaborates with units to develop social media campaigns.
  • Provides support to media staff to ensure project completion and meet production schedules.
  • Serves as a consultant and resource in seminars, workshops, and training to build staff brands while adhering to university guidelines.
  • Coordinates data processing functions and produces routine reports.
  • Participates in training sessions, workshops, staff meetings, and university events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Digital Media and Design, Communications, Marketing, Business, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in communications, website development, and/or management.
  • Excellent communication skills, data organization & management, and attention to detail.
  • Experience in writing, editing, and publishing digital and written media content.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with Canva, social media scheduling platforms, and social media platforms.
  • Ability to forge relationships in person and electronically, follow up consistently, and work with diverse groups.
  • Experience working across cultures and within various organizational levels.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in higher education or with student-facing organizations.
  • Experience using analytics tools to identify trends and communicate insights.
  • Experience with organic and paid social media campaigns, with advanced knowledge of paid advertising on primary social platforms.
  • Experience with social media follower growth.
  • Experience supervising student workers.
