Key Responsibilities

  • Build chapter and territory pipeline by acquiring new supporters through the Bag of Hope and Pack program, implemented according to national program guidelines.
  • Identify and manage opportunities for community engagement resource expansion across territory footprint, including enhancing the healthcare provider (HCP) strategy, utilizing national CE dashboards to analyze data and uncover growth opportunities.
  • Activate on HCP leads to onboard new resource partners and build relationships with key HCP partners to market the CE program, disseminate resources, and support chapter activities.
  • Deliver consistent communication to HCPs and manage process with resource distribution partners to ensure implementation meets expectations and standards.
  • Develop and implement engagement opportunities to deepen support and activation of newly diagnosed families, individuals, community members, healthcare providers, advocates, and other stakeholders across the territory.
  • Partner with Institutional Fundraising to surface local grant resources for community engagement projects.
  • Implement strategies to acquire and activate supporters in events to meet fundraising and participation goals.
  • Evaluate chapter activities regularly and seek ways to improve performance and fundraising success.
  • Recruit, cultivate, and manage volunteer leaders to drive engagement and activation throughout the territory.
  • Provide training, resources, and communications to volunteers to effectively execute programs.
  • Support and maintain the vision, mission, and priorities of Breakthrough T1D, and promote mission engagement opportunities throughout the community.
  • Develop and manage chapter CE communication, including engagement plans and volunteer updates.
  • Represent the interests, professionalism, and integrity of Breakthrough T1D in all activities and relationships.
  • Maintain departmental and organization-wide policies and procedures, participate in strategy meetings, and respond to inquiries promptly.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of community building and engagement experience, with a record of achievement in a mission-driven organization with engagement and activation responsibilities.
  • Experience working directly with large- and small-scale community events; healthcare-based organization experience highly preferred.
  • College degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong relationship-building skills with experience organizing community initiatives and knowledge of fundraising through peer-to-peer and signature events.
  • Experience partnering with active volunteers and managing a large network of passionate volunteers.
  • Demonstrate high energy, integrity, courage, empathy, and creativity; a team player supporting organizational goals.
  • Proven ability to maintain strategic relationships with volunteers, healthcare, and community partners; existing local network preferred.
  • Ability to be an enthusiastic spokesperson/representative of Breakthrough T1D's mission and inspire others.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and possess active listening, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office and constituent management databases.
  • Ability to travel within the territory; evening and weekend work as needed; occasional overnight travel.

  • College degree or equivalent experience.
