About the Role

The Content Strategist at the University of Kansas Health System develops, manages, and oversees the brand content for public relations and internal communications to support the strategic goals and initiatives of the health system. This strategic position acts as a brand ambassador, collaborating with various teams to maximize sponsorships, events, content, and opportunities, with a focus on creating content that enhances trust and brand loyalty among employees, physicians, and the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and oversee internal communications for the health system, working collaboratively with the corporate communications, media relations, government relations, events, and marketing teams.
  • Carry out and direct 'thought leadership' initiatives aimed at driving reputation and increasing brand loyalty among employees and physicians.
  • Develop a system for tracking results and metrics to measure audience preferences and the effectiveness of communication tactics.
  • Collaborate with internal communications, media relations, government relations, legal, and marketing to ensure messages are strategic, consistent, and appropriate, and to maximize opportunities.
  • Advise health system leaders on issues that may affect The University of Kansas Health System, including assessing risks and making recommendations.
  • Develop, manage, and oversee internal programs to support strategic goals.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert by analyzing and developing strategies that positively position the health system's brand.
  • Manage staff’s daily work processes to ensure messaging, images, and materials are strategic, consistent, and appropriate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Three or more years of experience in public relations, media relations, or communications.
  • Three or more years of experience in news media or media relations.
  • Three or more years of experience with crisis communications skills.

Nice to Have

  • Five or more years of experience in a large healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of communication and public relations practices, methods, and strategies.
