About the Role

The Data and Research Specialist supports the strategic research and innovation goals of the eLearning Division at Sinclair Community College by collecting, analyzing, and translating data into actionable insights. This role serves as a cross-functional resource supporting Strategy and Innovation, Instructional Design and Technology, and Flexible Learning. The specialist collaborates with various teams to advance divisional goals, contribute to applied research, evaluate emerging technologies, and support faculty, staff, and students in adopting innovative tools and approaches to drive data-informed innovation across the division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts research and data analysis on complex topics related to teaching, learning, innovation and strategy within the eLearning Division.
  • Synthesizes findings into clear, actionable reports, briefs or visualizations that inform the design, evaluation and implementation of new technologies and tools.
  • Supports evidence-informed decision-making that enhances lab capabilities and aligns with emerging trends.
  • Contributes to applied research activities, assisting with experimentation and data collection, and preparing resources and environments for faculty-led projects and student engagement.
  • Helps test and evaluate new technologies and learning environments to support innovation efforts.
  • Contributes to cross-functional project teams that drive team, program and division-wide initiatives.
  • Captures and analyzes data, identifies trends, and shares insights to support innovation pilots and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to support the adoption and integration of innovation initiatives involving emerging educational technologies.
  • Maintains and contributes to the design of research-related data systems and tools including shared drives, project repositories, and dashboards.
  • Assists in early-stage testing and exploration of new or emerging technologies relevant to teaching and learning.
  • Contributes to informal evaluation and documentation of user experience, potential impact, and alignment with divisional goals.
  • Participates in campus events, lab demonstrations, and community engagement activities that promote experiential learning and innovation.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in education, research methods, social sciences, data science, instructional technology, business or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience with conducting research, gathering data, analyzing trends, and synthesizing findings into clear and actionable outputs.
  • Experience working with educational or innovation-related technologies, including exploring, testing, and providing feedback on tools and platforms.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex information for diverse audiences including faculty, staff, and leadership.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and systems such as databases, dashboards, shared drives, spreadsheets, and visualization software.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, contribute to strategic initiatives, and adapt to evolving projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in education, research methods, social sciences, data science, instructional technology, business or a related field.
  • Two or more years of research, data analysis, and trend synthesis experience.
