About the Role

The Data Engineer is accountable for designing, creating, and maintaining data pipelines and data models for projects within the Risk Assurance Data and System. The role involves working as the lead engineer partner with Data Analysis, IT Teams, partners, and developers to drive the design and oversee the technical aspects of delivery. This position is based in Framingham, MA, and is offered as a contract role with a focus on data engineering, modeling, and analytics within a collaborative and agile environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, catalog, and maintain Data Software and Data Pipeline solutions for the Corporate Risk and Compliance functions
  • Analyze raw data and data sets across various data technology environments
  • Combine raw information from different sources and technologies
  • Identify opportunities for data acquisition
  • Collaborate with IT teams and peer engineers to minimize data duplication and ensure solutions align with the overall IT roadmap
  • Deliver clean, secure, and high-performance code and technology components that meet non-functional requirements
  • Participate in design reviews, peer code reviews, and impact assessment sessions to identify appropriate solutions
  • Create test data, relevant supporting documentation, and support deployment for small to medium complex solutions
  • Work within an agile framework to ensure efficient delivery and identify process improvements
  • Support discussions on design approaches to solve business problems
  • Maintain broad knowledge of data sources and analytics applications supporting the Corporate Risk and Compliance function
  • Partner with the Center of Excellence to enhance guidelines, standards, and methodologies
  • Participate in communities of practice
  • Provide high-level customer service and take personal accountability for outcomes
  • Lead other developers and analysts through design concepts
  • Develop relationships at all levels of the business
  • Prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactively address issues related to data design, modeling, and solutions

Requirements

  • 5-10 years of experience in a technical data, data modeling, or data analytics role, specifically in design, development, and implementation
  • Experience in data engineering/modeling or similar roles
  • Knowledge of retail industry processes such as purchase orders, sales, vendor maintenance, and merchandising
  • Proficiency with Excel, Power BI, Snowflake, Jira, Confluence, Databricks, and Alteryx
  • Experience building data models for reporting in Power BI and Snowflake
  • Expertise with data modeling and engineering tools, SQL, data security, data profiling, and multiple file formats (JSON, XML, etc.)
  • Proficiency in SQL, stored procedures, and integration techniques
  • Experience with cloud data storage technologies (Azure), analytics tools, data architecture, and data governance
  • Experience in the full software delivery lifecycle including data analysis, process mapping, solution design, coding, testing, and deployment
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps concepts and tools
  • Good analytical, critical thinking, and influencing skills
  • Ability to communicate technical data effectively to non-technical stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Bachelor's degree in information management, data analytics, computer science, or a related field
  • Hands-on experience working with large, complex data sets in multi-system environments
  • Python skills
