About the Role

The Data Analyst will play a crucial role in enhancing data management activities and supporting the development of data-centric tools. This position involves identifying and applying appropriate formulas and statistical techniques, designing and implementing accurate analysis, and working with data sources using tools such as Alteryx, Python, or SQL. The analyst will also develop SQL code, create data models, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and develop data-driven solutions. Additionally, the role includes creating data visualizations and dashboards with Tableau or PowerBI, ensuring data analysis and reporting accuracy, and recommending and implementing appropriate tools for team needs. The ideal candidate will possess a growth mindset, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt to changing client needs and priorities. This position is located in Dallas, Texas, with a hybrid work model (Tuesdays & Thursdays in-office) and flexible scheduling. Candidates able to work from the Dallas or Fairfax office will be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support data management activities under the guidance and oversight from your manager.
  • Identify and apply appropriate logic and statistical techniques with assistance.
  • Design and implement accurate, meaningful analysis using sound techniques and approaches with assistance.
  • Work with data sources or equivalent in Alteryx or other workflow tools such as Python or SQL.
  • Develop entry level to intermediate SQL code, such as nested queries, merge statements, and different functions in SQL.
  • Design an effective data model for a project task with guidance from the Data Intelligence Senior Manager.
  • Support and develop internal data centric tools required for client deliverables.
  • Collaborate and implement appropriate Python, SQL, Alteryx or equivalent packages to develop tools as needed by the team.
  • Create data visualizations and dashboards with Tableau or PowerBI, including publishing reports and building interactive, multifaceted dashboards.
  • Communicate dashboard/visual content to internal audiences, including developing verbiage and scripts to present products.
  • Ensure tasks are completed on time and accurately.
  • Create and maintain documents related to development and support activities.
  • Track all time worked and expenses accurately, inputting data into the expense and timekeeping system, billing correctly, and using proper labor codes.
  • Perform all other duties as needed and assigned.

Requirements

  • Entry level proficiency in SQL (basic queries, joins, stored procedures).
  • Entry level proficiency in Python or Alteryx for data workflows.
  • Ability to develop measures, calculated columns, and data sets, and communicate their differences.
  • Understanding of effective visuals for communicating results and data, with a design mindset considering audience and UX.
  • Ability to determine rationale for query approaches such as update, insert, merge, and join types.
  • Proficiency with online collaboration and file sharing tools such as SharePoint and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in collaborating internally and externally to co-create successful outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
  • Sound business ethics, including protection of proprietary and confidential information.
  • Ability to be flexible, adapt to changing needs, handle multiple priorities, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey points clearly and effectively.

  • Demonstrated experience with data collection, data wrangling, and ETL.
  • Experience with generating insights through visualizations utilizing Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Experience using SQL and/or Alteryx for data cleansing and analysis.

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting sustainability, ESG, energy and/or decarbonization programs.
  • Experience in a client-facing consulting role, delivering professional services, and building relationships across clients and internal teams.
  • Experience with ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience with data collection, data wrangling, and ETL.
  • Demonstrated experience with generating insights through visualizations utilizing Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Demonstrated experience using SQL and/or Alteryx for data cleansing and analysis.
