Deputy Digital Communications Director

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

• Serves in a managerial/supervisory capacity to conduct performance management activities, ensure onboarding/offboarding, and provide staff training.
• Establishes and reviews work assignments and priorities, implements performance improvement strategies, and supports employee growth through feedback and professional development.
• Collaborates with the Director of Communications and relevant staff to craft and execute overall digital strategy for the agency.
• Assists with the development of digital and social strategies, including researching, writing, and final approval of online campaigns and metrics.
• Presents digital campaign results and strategic goals to VDH senior leadership as requested.
• Develops an annual FY budget reflecting all expenses of digital communications in collaboration with the Communications Director.
• Reviews, edits, and approves all digital communications materials such as newsletters, press releases, and mass correspondence.
• Oversees and reviews all VDH social media accounts and website content, metrics, graphics, and campaigns.
• Manages project oversight of digital programs, including organic and paid media projects, and milestone reporting.
• Collaborates with creative teams and vendors to develop digital content, ensuring 508 compliance.
• Creates, implements, and tracks online campaigns, managing small-scale campaigns and digital content produced by vendors.
• Reviews and approves vendor digital content and manages social media and website vendor contracts.

Requirements

• Understands broad organizational priorities and deploys resources to reach engagement targets.
• Strong analytical ability to evaluate performance and adjust strategies accordingly.
• Excellent listening and communication skills.
• Capacity to work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience in developing and managing results-oriented, complex digital communications programs.
• Extensive digital marketing experience, including launching organic and paid digital programs.
• Expertise in utilizing SEO and SEM to optimize digital platforms.
• Proficiency in Spanish, both oral and written.
• Knowledge of digital content review, project management, and vendor relations.
• Senior level management experience in digital communications.

• Experience in launching both organic and paid digital programs.
• Expertise in utilizing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM).

Qualifications

• Experience in digital marketing and campaign management.
• Proficiency in Spanish (oral and written).
