About the Role

The Digital Content Strategist will lead UC ANR's content governance council and enhance the quality and discoverability of their website. This position involves content curation, developing and implementing comprehensive content strategies, collaborating with stakeholders, and applying advancements in web technologies to improve the UC ANR web presence. The role reports to the Director of Strategic Communications and has a significant relationship with UC ANR Information Technology (IT). It is a contract appointment based in Davis, CA, with hybrid flexible work arrangements available for California residents. The position supports UC ANR's mission to share research and practices to promote thriving communities, sustainable agriculture, resilient ecosystems, and economic prosperity in California.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements comprehensive short and long-range strategic digital communications programs and projects.
  • Facilitates the organization's content governance council, ensuring effective coordination and communication among members and stakeholders.
  • Establishes and enforces content guidelines, supporting content curation and standards to maintain consistency and quality across the website ecosystem.
  • Facilitates regular meetings and communications with stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and align on content priorities.
  • Collaborates closely with UC ANR IT for the development and implementation of content governance requests.
  • Researches, develops, and produces website content that aligns with organizational goals to enhance quality, discoverability, and user experience.
  • Analyzes website data regularly and adjusts strategies accordingly.
  • Develops search engine optimization strategies to increase UC ANR prominence in search results.
  • Consults with management and professionals to develop strategic digital communication plans, programs, or projects.
  • Applies emerging web-related technologies and best practices, including accessibility standards, and recommends or implements actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a content strategist, web manager, or information architect.
  • Advanced knowledge of website design and implementation fundamentals.
  • Experience leading, presenting to, and working with diverse, cross-disciplinary groups.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Technical experience with digital content strategy and governance platforms such as Drupal or WordPress, Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and content management systems.
  • Advanced interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced skills in creating effective websites and content governance models.
  • Understanding of organizational processes, procedures, and regulations related to web communication.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License and ability to travel as needed.

Benefits & Perks

  • Salary range of $90,300/year to $129,700/year.
