About the Role

The International Director of Marketing will lead global brand and marketing strategies to expand Squishmallows in key markets. This role drives awareness, engagement, and sales while aligning with franchise goals. Partnering with leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partners, they'll execute impactful campaigns, scale global strategies, and adapt for local relevance to deliver measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the global franchise vision comes to life across all key international markets through strategic brand building and storytelling.
  • Grow the global and multigenerational fanbase using country-specific marketing tactics and strategies including social, influencer, digital, linear, and experiential marketing.
  • Work with leadership and cross-functional teams to shape a globally informed brand strategy that cascades into market-specific plans covering objectives, KPIs, budgeting, GTM strategy, and execution.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of global brand and marketing strategies, working with leadership to refine and optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, market shifts, and competitor activities to keep strategies relevant.
  • Manage multiple projects and timelines while driving growth across multiple markets.
  • Foster collaboration and streamline workflows and communication across key cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure cohesive brand planning, creative excellence, and integrated marketing execution in partnership with cross-functional departments, adapting for local markets.
  • Lead the development and execution of marketing strategies across key global markets, ensuring alignment with business objectives and brand vision.
  • Develop and oversee integrated marketing strategies from concept to launch, including franchise campaigns, cultural initiatives, events, paid media, social media, and influencer marketing.
  • Use data insights to optimize global brand and marketing initiatives.
  • Partner with Finance and Brand leadership to manage budgets, timelines, and resources for campaign success.
  • Identify and unlock synergies across global marketing activities, vendors, and team operations.
  • Manage all aspects of talent management for their team, promoting collaboration and team development.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in strategic brand strategy and/or marketing planning in a global organization.
  • 5+ years in a senior leadership role managing high-performing teams and complex global marketing operations.
  • Experience in the toy, entertainment, or consumer products categories.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate high-level strategy into actionable initiatives across multiple territories.
  • Deep understanding of brand identity, creative platforms, product storytelling, and marketing investment.
  • Expertise in global marketing operations, process optimization, and budget management.
  • Sensitivity to regional context and consumer behavior with global and cultural nuance.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing, e-commerce, and omnichannel strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven decision-making approach.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Familiarity with market research, insights, and data-driven planning.
  • International market experience in regions such as Canada, Mexico, Brazil, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Australia, UAE, APAC, LATAM, or similar.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with global content distribution, media business models, and content licensing.

Benefits & Perks

  • Base salary range of $167,040 to $212,160 per year, with potential performance incentives.
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical insurance (company-paid for employees and children), life and AD&D insurance, 401(k) with matching up to 4%, short and long-term disability, and tuition reimbursement.
  • Flexible work schedule with a Monday-Thursday on-site workweek, optional WFH Fridays, up to 20 fully remote days annually, and paid time off for vacation and sick leave.
