About the Role

The Director, Brand and Marketing Services at Manulife Wealth & Asset Management (Manulife WAM) is responsible for leading initiatives to build the brand in key global markets across various customer segments, managing workflow processes across marketing teams, and developing brand strategy, research, and content positioning to increase brand awareness and perception. The role involves collaboration with internal teams, agency partners, and stakeholders to deliver effective brand campaigns and ensure brand governance, with a focus on optimizing workflows and supporting the marketing organization. This position is hybrid and can be based in Toronto or Boston.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with marketing colleagues, corporate brand team, and agency partners to develop brand strategy and messaging that resonate with target audiences.
  • Contribute to global Manulife brand approach and strategy, working closely with other segments and the corporate brand team.
  • Lead the evolution of brand strategy as new brand architecture is deployed, aiming to grow awareness, consideration, and retention across various customer segments.
  • Build integrated campaigns across paid, earned, and owned channels that connect brand mission/values with business objectives and client insights.
  • Collaborate with creative and media teams to develop campaigns and media strategies that meet business goals.
  • Research, write, and share creative briefs including insights, objectives, and success metrics for campaign development.
  • Guide the development and presentation of creative work, ensuring deliverables are on brief and on brand.
  • Manage research efforts to develop insights for marketing campaigns and oversee brand health and tracking research.
  • Manage global campaign reporting with critical metrics dashboards and budget tracking to optimize spend and drive ROI.
  • Partner with legal and brand governance teams to ensure brand assets are trademarked and protected.
  • Oversee workflow tools and processes, coach resource management professionals, and support project prioritization and change management efforts.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant, progressively senior experience in marketing and building brands within the investment (wealth and asset management) industry.
  • Extensive marketing experience and background in wealth and asset management is essential.
  • Result-oriented with the ability to multi-task, prioritize initiatives, and develop solutions where blueprints may not exist.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire teams and stakeholders at various levels.
  • Strong business insight with strategic, critical, and analytical thinking skills.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional storytelling ability for strategy and communication presentations.
  • Deep understanding of campaign measurement, optimization, and analytical models such as media mix models.
  • Experience leading integrated brand campaigns that increase awareness and consideration.
  • Proven experience in content strategy development that drives outcomes across the marketing funnel.
  • Experience leading marketing teams in the investment industry with workflow tools and production teams.
  • BA/BS degree; MBA preferred.
