Job Description

About the Role

The Director of Business Development is responsible for developing and implementing business and marketing plans for the Rehabilitation Hospital. This role involves establishing strategic marketing initiatives in collaboration with senior leadership, managing relationships with payers and referral sources, and overseeing the Marketing and Admission Team to ensure the hospital's growth and success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implements a comprehensive business plan to ensure Census and Mix Forecasts are met and/or exceeded, updating it quarterly to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Gathers external market, customer, and competitor information on a continual basis.
  • Manages the clinical liaison and admissions teams as the managing director.
  • Develops and manages the marketing department's operating budget.
  • Creates and maintains a database system for decision support, including community needs, demand forecasting, utilization, and competitive analysis.
  • Serves as a liaison between Financial Services, Information Systems, and Business Development for internal data gathering and distribution.
  • Designs control systems to measure the effectiveness of market development and penetration.
  • Ensures appropriate patient selection and assists families in making informed admission decisions.
  • Creates and implements marketing plans and programs aligned with long and short-term goals.
  • Analyzes research data to identify areas for cost and quality improvements.
  • Establishes partnerships with other healthcare organizations and agencies for research and program development.
  • Interfaces with managed care providers, physicians, and program personnel to develop business plans and evaluate new opportunities.
  • Maintains tracking systems and delivers regular reports and presentations on performance metrics.
  • Participates in collaborative reports, community leadership meetings, compliance, and quality meetings as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of all business development roles and ability to work in them as needed.
  • Experience in developing and managing marketing and business plans.
  • Ability to gather and analyze internal and external data for decision support.
  • Experience in managing teams, including clinical liaison and admissions staff.
  • Proficiency with software tools such as LifePoint information systems and database management.
  • Excellent communication and liaison skills with healthcare providers and payers.
  • Ability to create and manage budgets.
  • Experience in healthcare market analysis, demand forecasting, and competitive analysis.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, managed care, and patient referral networks.
