About the Role

The Director of Cell Therapy (CT) Competitive Intelligence (CI) at Bristol Myers Squibb leads all aspects of a comprehensive CI program to support the company's cell therapy portfolio. This role provides strategic guidance, oversees planning and dissemination of competitive intelligence, manages external vendors, and collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders. The position resides within the Applied Intelligence and Analytics team, which delivers data-driven insights and innovative analytical solutions to support various business functions and transform patient lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads all elements of the internal Competitive Intelligence (CI) model for BMS' Cell Therapy franchise, including engaging with stakeholders, managing intelligence networks, and coordinating communication of intelligence.
  • Conducts analysis and research based on key intelligence questions from stakeholders, ensuring consistency and standards across BMS.
  • Builds relationships and influences senior management to promote insight-enabled decision making.
  • Identifies, synthesizes, and distills information into key insights across the cell therapy portfolio in partnership with cross-matrix business teams.
  • Advances initiatives and applies successful pilots across Cell Therapy, ensuring consistency in strategic CI capabilities such as field intelligence synthesis and congress coverage.
  • Translates insights into actionable recommendations for US and worldwide Commercial, Strategy, Medical, and other initiatives.
  • Maintains forensics capability through extrapolation, triangulation, and internal expert validation.
  • Executes projects within budget and timeline, making necessary tradeoffs.
  • Ensures proper dissemination and access to competitive intelligence for strategic use.
  • Responds to senior-level ad-hoc business questions with expert analysis and timely delivery.
  • Assesses vendor capabilities and defines effective CI models to improve efficiencies and prioritization.
  • Leads and mentors indirect reports, balancing portfolio priorities with individual development and coaching.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree required; MBA, PharmD, or PhD preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, including at least 5 years in competitive, market, or business intelligence.
  • Experience in oncology, hematology, or cell therapy is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and commercialization pathways.
  • Ability to think strategically, analyze data, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, creativity, and ability to work in complex, fast-changing environments.
  • Experience managing teams, setting goals, and coaching or developing staff.
  • Experience leading complex projects with resource and budget management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate across diverse teams and geographies.
  • Experience supporting business decision-making in a dynamic corporate environment.
  • Effective vendor management and contract negotiation skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in oncology/hematology or cell therapy.

Qualifications

  • Educational background with BA/BS required; MBA/PharmD/PhD preferred.
  • At least 10 years of industry experience with 5+ years in intelligence functions.
