About the Role

The Director - Checkout Product Growth at PayPal is a leadership role responsible for driving the adoption and strategic development of proprietary checkout solutions for merchants, including PayPal Checkout, Pay with Venmo, and Fastlane. The role involves influencing product strategy, managing cross-functional teams, and ensuring product profitability to deliver outstanding value to merchants and customers within a global, innovative company committed to inclusion, collaboration, and customer-centricity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish a shared vision across the company for one or more products with a deliberate and cohesive strategy.
  • Lead product strategy development and develop a clear, executable view of the product strategy with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Influence the architectural roadmap and balance innovative design, technical implementation, regulatory requirements, time-to-market, customer needs, and product profitability.
  • Champion the customer experience and prioritize customer needs in product requirements and decision making.
  • Define and use metrics that inform the success of products, including usability studies, research, and market analysis.
  • Standardize workstreams to include analytics, customer discovery, market research, and competitive analysis to drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Be responsible for product profitability, including budgetary decisions.
  • Lead operational mechanisms that drive execution and accountability, including Product Reviews, Operating Reviews, and Business Reviews.
  • Interface with senior leadership as needed.
  • Lead a cross-functional team, partnering with global content strategists, data scientists, product designers, and user experience researchers.
  • Maximize efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the standard.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience and a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years management experience.
  • Experience in establishing product vision and strategy.
  • Strong understanding of usability testing, market research, and competitive analysis.
  • Ability to influence architectural roadmaps and balance technical and regulatory considerations.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience managing product profitability and operational mechanisms.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with strategic partnerships and cross-functional team management.
  • Experience in managing large enterprise products and global teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to financial and payment products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 15 years of relevant work experience.
  • At least 3 years of management experience.
