About the Role

The Director, Client Engagement (Marketing) at Stanford Health Care is a front-facing marketing leader responsible for developing and executing strategic marketing plans that support various initiatives across the organization. The role involves building strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing input for marketing strategies, and positioning Stanford Medicine as a leading academic medical center through innovative ideas and tactics. The position includes account-specific budget management and staff supervision, contributing to the organization’s legacy of hope and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads a small team in developing holistic and actionable marketing plans aligned with organizational priorities, including strategic objectives, target audience definition, key messages, tactics, timelines, and metrics.
  • Oversees and holds ultimate accountability for the execution of marketing plans and closely monitors outcomes and metrics.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders and departments throughout the organization.
  • Provides regular updates and presentations to internal and external stakeholders regarding marketing initiatives and their impact.
  • Collaborates with Marketing, Communications, Market Development, and Outreach departments to ensure alignment and support for Stanford Medicine's goals.
  • Garners support for marketing plans through collaboration with stakeholders to influence and reach agreement diplomatically and efficiently.
  • Understands competitor positioning and opportunities to develop stronger marketing plans and tactics.
  • Influences go-to-market plans to differentiate Stanford Medicine, engage the community, and maximize slot utilization.
  • Coaches, mentors, and manages staff to foster collaboration, increase efficiency, and deliver measurable results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related discipline from an accredited college or university; Master's degree preferred.
  • Ten (10) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
  • Seven (7) years of supervisory experience.
  • Deep knowledge of developing and executing effective marketing strategies.
  • Proven ability to translate core business strategies into actionable initiatives.
  • Experience in presenting complex ideas clearly and impactfully (verbal and written).
  • Ability to analyze market research to inform customer targeting strategies.
  • Strong relationship-building and conflict resolution skills with demonstrated client credibility.
  • Ability to work effectively across a highly matrixed organization and inspire loyalty and collaboration.
  • Effective leadership skills with a collaborative management style and change management experience.
  • Excellent prioritization skills and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in an academic medical or community hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree preferred but not required.
  • Seven (7) years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in an academic medical or community hospital setting preferred.
