About the Role

Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, headquartered in Dallas, is a regulated electricity transmission and distribution business that uses superior asset management skills to provide reliable electricity delivery to consumers. Oncor operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 143,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas. The role of Director - Data is responsible for leading Oncor's Data team, overseeing the organization's data strategy, including data movement, governance, security, quality, availability, and operations, to enable data-driven decision-making and strategic asset management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure data handling, storage, and disposal activities are in compliance with SOX and CIP requirements.
  • Plan, prioritize, and implement strategic Capex investments and improvements across multiple groups within and outside Technology.
  • Manage the movement of Oncor's data into a centralized system, ensuring data is available, accurate, and ready for analysis and reporting.
  • Lead the data integration process, selecting and executing methods such as Extract Transform Load and Data Virtualization.
  • Oversee database availability, replication technologies, and data restoration processes, including synchronous and asynchronous replication.
  • Develop guidelines for data archival and long-term storage in compliance with corporate retention and regulations.
  • Design and implement data governance policies related to access, storage, security, and compliance.
  • Implement data quality procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Lead strategies and measures to safeguard data from unauthorized access, breaches, and security threats, including access control, encryption, and data backup.
  • Oversee the corporate Data Loss Protection program.
  • Improve data quality, classification, lineage, and metadata repository use.
  • Manage and maintain databases ensuring performance, security, and integrity.
  • Coordinate with other technology groups for system updates, patches, and upgrades.
  • Understand software, database, and replication technology license costs, working with Commercial Governance on renewals.
  • Develop and report metrics aligned with technology goals, reviewing quarterly for performance improvements.
  • Report on monthly financial progress, metrics, and project status.
  • Develop and attract technology talent, fostering employee development.
  • Manage vendor and partner relationships, aligning products and services with enterprise strategy.
  • Identify and promote technology trends to improve outcomes.
  • Demonstrate leadership to ensure operational excellence and value delivery.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology or related field encouraged to apply.
  • Minimum five years of management and/or supervisory experience.
  • Eight years of experience in data governance, data quality, data management, and risk management.
  • Proven success in leading data governance programs in complex organizations encouraged to apply.
  • Experience in leadership roles within technology functions, especially leading data strategies and initiatives.
  • Strong leadership, people management, and organizational skills.
  • Strong collaboration and partnering skills.
  • Ability to articulate complex system issues to various stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop strategic processes and measure improvement results.
  • Effective analytical, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing suppliers and contractual commitments.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
