About the Role

The Director, External Marketing at Crum & Forster, based in Morristown, NJ, is responsible for creating and delivering impactful marketing solutions to promote the company's specialty insurance products. Reporting to the Vice President of Marketing, this role involves collaborating with various teams to develop data-driven marketing strategies across digital, social media, and event channels, with a focus on driving growth, awareness, and engagement. Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the External Marketing team and the broader Marketing Communications team to leverage the Connected Marketing approach.
  • Proactively develop and execute comprehensive, data-driven external marketing and communication strategies focused on driving growth, awareness, and engagement across multiple channels including digital, social media, and events.
  • Work closely with Division Marketing Partners to develop and implement strategic and integrated marketing campaigns and materials, including brochures, webpages, emails, social posts, advertising, thought leadership, tradeshows/events, infographics, and videos.
  • Direct freelance designers, writers, or external marketing agencies on specific projects to ensure deliverables meet objectives and stay within budget.
  • Participate in outreach sessions with P&C and A&H business leadership to understand key strategies and contribute to marketing outreach, market awareness, and visibility.
  • Copy edit, proof, improve, and maintain product- and value proposition-specific messaging and content to support business goals and ensure consistent voice across channels.
  • Ensure brand compliance and bring new ideas, channels, and tools to enhance digital marketing efforts.
  • Use market, client, and industry insights to inform content development and refine execution.
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts, recommend adjustments to maximize ROI.
  • Facilitate business, legal, and brand approval processes for content.
  • Support speaking, presentation, and storytelling opportunities across Subject Matter Experts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, PR, Journalism, Marketing, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing and communications.
  • Insurance industry knowledge (P&C and/or A&H) required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Campaign creation and management experience with social media platforms and content development.
  • Experience with improving SEO results.
  • Outstanding writing and editing skills adaptable to digital, social, web, email, and print channels.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience with social media content measurement and management.

Qualifications

  • Formal educational background in relevant fields or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive marketing and communications experience, particularly in the insurance industry.
  • Technical proficiency in social media campaign management and SEO.
