The Director of Market Intelligence will serve as a strategic analytical partner supporting McKesson's relationships with mature, well-known pharmaceutical manufacturers. This role bridges market intelligence, clinical insights, and financial modeling to optimize McKesson's distribution strategy for established manufacturers with multiple products in market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with Financial Modeling teams to provide market intelligence, clinical insights, and strategic assumptions for complex manufacturer models. Manage analytical frameworks for portfolios spanning 2-20+ products per manufacturer, ensuring accurate representation of market dynamics, competitive landscapes, and clinical differentiation factors.
  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of FDA approval pipelines and therapeutic area trends to forecast long-range demand patterns and manufacturer impact across McKesson's distribution channels. Translate clinical trial data and regulatory timelines into actionable business intelligence for strategic planning and resource allocation.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in determining optimal distribution channel placement (Brand vs. Specialty Distribution) based on product characteristics, market access requirements, and economic considerations. Evaluate manufacturer channel requests to ensure alignment with product needs and McKesson's strategic objectives.
  • Function as a strategic advisor to multiple internal stakeholder groups including product strategy, pricing, FP&A, and distribution planning teams. Field complex product questions and provide analytical insights to support business decisions across the enterprise.
  • Define and enforce deal parameters for routine and high-profile manufacturer negotiations. Contribute qualitative insights and market context beyond financial modeling to ensure comprehensive deal evaluation and risk assessment.
  • Monitor pharmaceutical industry trends, analyze competitor strategies, and synthesize market insights to inform strategic recommendations. Maintain current knowledge of therapeutic area developments, pricing dynamics, and access trends affecting established manufacturers.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience. Less years required if has relevant Master's or Doctorate qualifications.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Advanced degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or Life Sciences preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry, healthcare distribution, and/or management consulting with focus on life sciences.
  • Demonstrated experience with complex financial modeling and business case development.
  • Track record of translating clinical and market data into strategic business recommendations.
  • Experience working with established pharmaceutical manufacturers and understanding of product lifecycle management.
  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical market dynamics, including pricing, reimbursement, and channel distribution strategies.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
  • Expert knowledge of FDA regulatory processes and pharmaceutical product development timelines.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling tools and data visualization platforms.
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to present complex concepts to executive audiences.
  • Strategic thinking with ability to balance multiple stakeholder perspectives.

  • Understanding of both brand and specialty pharmaceutical distribution models.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry, healthcare distribution, or management consulting.
  • Relevant Master's or Doctorate qualifications may reduce required years of experience.
