About the Role

The Director of Business Development Analytics & Intelligence at McDermott Will & Emery plays a pivotal role in shaping the firm's marketing, communications, and business development data strategy. The position involves integrating AI technologies with business intelligence, analytics, and client engagement efforts to support the firm's strategic goals. Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a comprehensive marketing and business development data strategy, build out/refine relevant infrastructure to support the strategy and continue to evolve based on emerging best practices and industry & technology trends
  • Develop, implement, and refresh complex data models from disparate datasets to build strong sales predictive analytics models to help shorten the sales cycle, highlight more marketing and BD opportunities, and use new scoring tactics to better understand client relationships
  • Enhance the firm's data visualization outputs through tools to communicate trends, actionable insights, and other learnings
  • Analyze, interpret, and report actionable insights in connection with the firm's business data
  • Collaborate with leaders in the MCBD department and senior leaders across departments to identify data orchestration needs, strategies, and buildouts to enable real-time or near real-time reporting
  • Build, deploy, and evolve AI agents that interact with Salesforce, Foundation, PowerBI, and other firmwide data collection systems
  • Evolve and enhance comprehensive client profiles that incorporate data sources from internal systems, external APIs, and third-party sources
  • Execute sophisticated hypothesis testing to provide predictive analysis on client growth, cross-sell, and churn, using data to develop right-fit client models
  • Monitor industry trends and advancements in AI and data analytics, and implement best practices for the department
  • Collaborate with IT and Knowledge Management teams to ensure seamless integration of data strategies and AI initiatives
  • Lead, evolve, and mentor team members aligned to data strategy, analysis, and business intelligence, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least twelve (12) years of related work experience
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing data models and AI solutions
  • Strong knowledge and experience with data collection systems such as Salesforce, Foundation, and PowerBI
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to travel and work flexible and/or fluctuating work hours
  • Ability to work independently and under own direction and initiative

Nice to Have

  • Knowledge of client relationship management (CRM) software
  • Experience with APIs and external data sources
  • Experience in a legal or professional services environment
  • Leadership experience in data analytics or AI projects
