About the Role

The Rochester Knighthawks, owned by Seneca Holdings and guided by the values of the Seneca Nation, are seeking a Director of Marketing in Rochester, NY. The role involves overseeing marketing and digital media strategies to drive business growth, enhance brand identity, and support community engagement. Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage the marketing and digital media team, providing mentorship, guidance, and training to aid in staff development.
  • Provide leadership and overall marketing strategy to develop and employ various marketing initiatives, campaigns, and branding efforts to achieve short and long-term goals.
  • Develop and oversee marketing and advertising plans for the regular season, post-season, team events, ticket and community campaigns, including managing budgets, media buying, negotiations, and promotions.
  • Lead multi-channel marketing strategies (email, text, website, social, digital platforms, multimedia) to meet revenue goals and support sponsorship campaigns.
  • Assist with website development and functionality from a marketing perspective.
  • Oversee the marketing and digital media department, ensuring work is completed correctly, efficiently, and on deadline.
  • Lead cross-departmental and grassroots marketing efforts and events to support organizational goals.
  • Partner with other departments to ensure consistent messaging and communication.
  • Collaborate with the corporate partnership department to integrate partner brands, support activations, and coordinate digital sponsor elements.
  • Monitor web and mobile app platforms to ensure sponsorship requirements are met.
  • Manage execution of NLL marketing initiatives at the club level.
  • Oversee development of creative assets for all digital and media platforms.
  • Maintain an email marketing calendar, optimize campaigns, and generate compelling content to increase response rates.
  • Perform digital asset audits for errors and technical issues, and test new methods to improve marketing outcomes.
  • Communicate results and their importance to leadership and maintain confidentiality.
  • Support on-site and off-site community events and conduct research on industry marketing activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in marketing, business, or sports management.
  • 5+ years of experience in marketing, corporate sponsorship, media, or advertising.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Proficient in social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop and HTML.
  • Experience in media buying, negotiations, and documenting agreements.
  • Proven ability to coach, lead, and develop a team.
  • Strong attention to detail, grammar, and proofreading skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster relationships.
  • Ability to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure environments and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passionate about customer service and able to work independently or in a group setting.

Nice to Have

  • Additional skills in graphic design, photography, copywriting, and sports industry experience.
