About the Role

The Director of Marketing at Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake is responsible for developing creative content and marketing strategies, implementing social media initiatives, managing website operations, coordinating events, and representing HFHC with integrity. This role serves as the Brand Officer, primary media contact, and internal communications leader, with a focus on supporting the organization's mission to provide affordable housing solutions and fostering a positive team culture within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop marketing and communications strategy to promote the mission of HFHC in coordination with the Chief Development & Marketing Officer.
  • Provide supervision and strategic direction to the Communications Team.
  • Develop marketing plans for each department, with emphasis on ReStore retail marketing.
  • Serve as Brand Officer, assuring quality and branding for all creative content and marketing products for the organization.
  • Serve as the point of contact with media and facilitate media opportunities for HFHC leaders.
  • Coordinate with the CEO and leadership team to facilitate internal and external communications needs and strategies.
  • Manage budget for Communications and Marketing.
  • Provide oversight and develop strategies for creative content for social and digital media across platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Ensure accurate and timely messaging and maintenance for the website and track web and social media analytics.
  • Work closely with ReStore leadership to develop effective marketing strategies to increase customer traffic.
  • Oversee the development of marketing campaigns for various groups and initiatives.
  • Maintain the marketing and business development contact system and generate lists for marketing efforts.
  • Coordinate with external marketing vendors and media companies to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Ensure quality and brand consistency with all promotional materials.
  • Facilitate the creation of press releases, media relations content, and other written materials.
  • Oversee detailed and effective event planning and coordinate HFHC Marketing staff attendance at events.
  • Coordinate with HFHI to ensure compliance with brand standards.
  • Work with the Development Team to utilize logos, social media, and communication tools according to fundraising plans.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as ReStore, homeowner services, volunteer services, and construction for their marketing needs.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Development and the Development Team for fundraising and marketing support.
  • Work with the Donor Information Manager to report and track marketing metrics.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture within the department and organization.
  • Operate in a safe manner, adhering to OSHA and Habitat safety policies, and respond to safety incidents.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, journalism, business administration, or related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of marketing and communication experience.
  • Experience with staff supervision preferred.
  • Experience in retail marketing preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams, Mondays, Canva, and other project software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, donors, and volunteers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Meticulous with a commitment to issue resolution.
  • Initiative-taking with a strong work ethic and collaborative spirit.
  • Ability to operate in a professional office environment and occasionally travel to remote sites.
  • Physical ability to lift files up to 25 lbs, handle event materials, and sit for prolonged periods.
  • Valid driver's license.
