About the Role

The Director, Website leads the strategic direction of all Society web properties, including nationalMSsociety.org and fundraising websites, overseeing their execution, performance, and continuous optimization. The role involves working with interdepartmental and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure websites are engaging, accessible, and aligned with organizational goals, with a focus on storytelling, fundraising, advocacy, and audience engagement. The position demands strategic thinking, leadership, and expertise in building best-in-class, mobile-first websites that increase traffic, engagement, and revenue, supporting the Society's mission to end MS.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Society's web channel subject matter expert.
  • Lead development and implementation of comprehensive strategic roadmaps for Society web properties aligned with organizational objectives, digital marketing goals, and user needs.
  • Serve as lead supervisor of the web production and search engine optimization teams overseeing project flow and workload.
  • Lead collaborative planning and execution of web projects with interdepartmental teams and cross-functional stakeholders to advance KPIs and web channel goals.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of Society websites, ensuring accessibility (WCAG compliance), usability, brand consistency, and adherence to policies.
  • Collaborate with teams to optimize web content, user flows, and donation pathways to support fundraising goals.
  • Partner with stakeholders to align web experiences with acquisition, engagement, and conversion strategies.
  • Lead strategy, execution, performance, and optimization for web channel direct response donation campaigns.
  • Oversee the strategic direction and execution of new Society websites or microsites.
  • Implement testing, audience research, and SEO/GEO strategies to improve activity flows, navigation, personalization, and website performance.
  • Provide leadership to the SEO team to maximize organic visibility and discoverability of Society websites.
  • Advise on Society domain strategies and implementation.
  • Define measures of success, monitor website performance using analytics tools, and oversee reporting to optimize strategies and outcomes.
  • Present web channel performance reports to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in web experience, UX/UI, SEO, and digital marketing.
  • Manage and mentor the web team, providing guidance, feedback, and professional development.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of recent experience leading enterprise-level, direct response websites, including managing a team and collaborating with external agency partners.
  • Deep understanding of direct response website marketing and experience leading web strategies supporting multi-channel campaigns with multi-million-dollar revenue goals.
  • Proven track record of leading digital projects from strategy through launch and ongoing optimization.
  • Demonstrated success in driving audience growth, engagement, and revenue through web experiences.
  • Familiarity with website technologies, architecture, accessibility, responsive design, UX/UI principles, and user research.
  • Experience working with audience intelligence, UX/UI, engineering, data science, and product teams to define and implement product strategies.
  • Strong analytics skills with the ability to analyze web performance data and translate insights into strategies.
  • Proficiency with web content management systems (CMS), HTML/CSS/JavaScript, Google Analytics, Search Console, Tag Manager, and SEO tools like SEMrush and Screaming Frog.
  • Knowledge of Salesforce Experience Cloud, Marketing Cloud Personalization, HubSpot, and DonorDrive.
  • Curiosity and a desire to stay informed on best practices in direct response website marketing.
