About the Role

The Discoverability Director, Performance Content at VML is a senior leadership role responsible for leading commerce strategies for major CPG clients. The role involves creating data-driven, performance-focused content to enhance product discoverability and drive business results. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of performance-driven content strategies, including visual content recommendations and commerce-specific content such as product descriptions and PDPs.
  • Identify content gaps, research new topics, and distill complex information into clear, accessible language.
  • Ensure all content adheres to brand voice, style guidelines, and project specifications, while optimizing for SEO and accessibility.
  • Proactively recommend and implement style guide enhancements to maintain content consistency and clarity.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and internal teams to define content needs, present strategies, and secure buy-in through effective communication.
  • Manage multiple content projects, ensuring timely delivery and responsiveness to client feedback and revisions.
  • Supervise, mentor, and review work of junior associates, maintaining high standards and customization for each client.
  • Participate in hiring, performance management, and team development activities.
  • Engage in new business initiatives, including RFPs, scoping requests, and resource planning.
  • Stay informed on industry trends in content, commerce, and search to continuously improve content practices.
  • Drive content innovation through thought leadership, case studies, opportunity identification, and integration of emerging technologies like AI.

Requirements

  • 9-11 years of experience in content writing, marketing, advertising, or related fields, preferably at an agency or with CPG brands.
  • Proven expertise in commerce content strategy, including PDP content, product descriptions, and content optimization.
  • Highly proficient in grammar rules and constructing clear, compelling sentences.
  • Experience in optimizing content for SEO and accessibility.
  • Proficient with common writing tools such as AP Style Guide and Grammarly, and familiar with AI platforms like WPP Open, Gemini, ChatGPT.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong presentation abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and timelines.
  • Receptive to feedback and committed to continuous learning about industry standards.
