As an Editor/Producer for Podcasts within the Global Publishing team, you will support authors and develop impactful editorial content for digital and print platforms, working with senior colleagues and subject matter experts to create engaging podcasts and editorial publications.
Key Responsibilities
- Create engaging, informative podcasts for external publication, including The McKinsey Podcast, McKinsey Talks Talent, At the Edge, and other projects as needed.
- Act as a thought-partner and service provider by working with McKinsey authors and editors to identify topics, schedule and participate in pitch meetings, conduct research, develop storylines, prepare interviewees and hosts, and run recording sessions.
- Review and edit content to ensure it follows conventions of written English, maintains consistency of voice, tone, and style, and aligns with Firm guidelines.
- Coordinate with relevant publishing groups and stakeholders to ensure projects are completed, approved, and published on time.
- Stay up-to-date on business news, trends, and the Firm's research to ensure communications are relevant and aligned with the Firm's position.
- Lead projects or workstreams independently or with a team, aligning with key stakeholders to meet publishing goals.
- Engage in additional editorial projects as needed, including ad hoc email and content tasks.
Requirements
- Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent.
- 7+ years of experience in all steps of creating podcasts, including ideation, editorial, audio editing, and audio mixing, preferably for an English-language business publication or professional-services firm.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint) and team share tools (e.g., Box, Slack, Zoom).
- Extensive experience with audio editing on Pro Tools.
- Experience identifying and pitching relevant content ideas to hosts and stakeholders.
- Ability to develop questions and talking points for hosts.
- Adept at writing compelling copy and headlines for podcast transcripts.
- Understanding of global business trends and detailed knowledge of one or more industries.
- Data literacy and familiarity with audience engagement strategies such as SEO and social media.
- Proficiency and fluency in verbal and written English; additional language skills are a plus.
